The 'B' bands used to say, 'we're big in Europe' - well, Mark Hutchinson is now 'big in Lithgow'. As an extension of his recent history of the University of Western Sydney (A University of the People, Allen & Unwin, 2013), Dr. Hutchinson read a paper on the Scots origins of Lithgow's educational institutions, and tied them into the long search for higher education options in the region. A warm and attentive audience appreciated the talk: copies of the talk and the longer paper are available from the author. The Lithgow Mercury coverage of the seminar, which was held in the Mines Rescue Centre, Lithgow, on 9 October, is below.
