The Scots College Dictionary of Biography
The Scots College has a rich history of producing fine men who have gone on to service and leadership in Australia and abroad across a range of fields. The Scots College Dictionary of Biography is an exciting collaboration to explore the 'forefathers' who have contributed so much to Scots and, through Scots, to shaping Australian society. Men like Admiral Sir David Martin, Governor of New South Wales, Professor Graeme Clarke, inventor of the bionic ear, Charlie Teo, leading neurosurgeon and Australian Living Treasure, Harry Triguboff, leading entrepreneur, and Peter Jensen, Archbishop of Sydney, are but some of the fine Scotsmen who have embodied excellence and servant leadership in their various fields.
Students, staff, parents, old boys and members of the community are invited to contribute to this living archive of stories of Scotsmen. As the College moves towards its 125th anniversary in 2018, we hope to build the Dictionary of Biography into a major resource for the preservation and writing of history about the College and its contribution to the world.
See below for an example of phase one of the project, the World War One Roll of Honour. In this project, students and staff from the History Department researched and wrote short biographies of the 24 Scotsmen who died in the First World War.
